Village hopping spread over 3 days of authentic Bidayuh lifestyle experience in the remote highlands. Learn traditional cooking skills, entertained by a bamboo musical instrument, sip Dayak rice wine, dip in crystal clear water waterfalls surrounded by virgin jungles. Hike along breathtaking views of the scenic Penrissen mountain range.
The journey begins with an hour plus drive along a quiet country road. Boat ride takes over across a tranquil lake for another 20 minutes to the trailhead of a 45 minutes hike to a double waterfall experience of crystal clear water ecstasy. We settle down under one of the waterfalls to soak in a crystal clear water surrounded lush rainforest . After a spot of relaxation at the falls it’s time to learn the art of Dayak culinary skills. With bamboo harvested from the jungle this is a hands-on cooking experience that you will enjoy. In the evening, experience the most memorable village stay with the friendly Bidayuh tribe. Learn traditional culinary skills and craft making of the highland.
In the morning, wake up early to view the spectacular mist over the scenic lake below. After breakfast and spending free and easy in the village, we continued our trek further into the remote interior to reach a second village, also with a view overlooking a scenic lake. The locals are also skilled in setting up hunting traps and ways to harvest the jungle for their daily needs, so along the trek, your community guide will demonstrate these basic jungle survival skills. We will also pass through many fruits and pepper farms, where your local guide will see how the spice is harvested and processed. In the evening, enjoy the warmth and the hospitality of the local host before settling in the village homestay.
On the last day, after spending more time with the villagers to understand the constant struggles of this remote community, we say goodbye to our host and return to Bengoh by boat (30 minutes) before transferring back to civilization.
Simplicity, healthy and back to basic Bidayuh traditional farming lifestyle. Families with kids and toddlers are most welcome.
